9 AM Worship Service – Drive In Service
August 30, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Trinity Church session has decided to hold a Drive In Church service this coming Lord’s Day at 9 AM. We will be meeting at the Maryhill Winery Parking Lot (you know it as the Hollywood Schoolhouse parking lot). The deacons are working with the elders and some other volunteers to make this all happen, and I am extremely grateful for all the hard work already put into this. I am excited that we will be able to be together physically in this way come the Lord’s Day service and we will be distributing communion as well. Every family will remain in their cars/vans (feel free to open your back van door or sit in your truck – yeah, it might rain a little on you), although we may step out to sing the Doxology while still practicing plenty of social distancing.
I have spoken with many churches who have done these services and I know they can be done while following all of the social distancing necessary. I have spoken with the local and county police and COVID-19 County Questions people and all agree that what we are proposing is unconcerning to them as long as we follow social distancing rules (keep 6 feet apart from any other family). Details on how we do that along with how we distribute communion elements will be forthcoming but it will be far safer for you to attend our worship service than many other public outings that we all must take throughout the week.
That said, if any are sick or have any symptoms, your family should stay home. And if your conscience bothers you regarding such a public gathering at this time, we encourage you to stay at home. This is a great opportunity for all of us to practice broad charity with one another on such decisions. We hope to still provide a livestream service and are working on the details for that as well.
We are Christians and we are not to have any fear other than fear of God. We are Christians and we understand that freedom always has inherent risks. We are Christians who love the Lord, honor the king, and are seeking to do both sincerely from the heart. Don’t be scared; don’t be stupid.
As I said, more details will be coming. Pray for those who are making preparations and for the clouds to part on Sunday morning.
Blessings on you all,
Dave Hatcher
